Jewar Airport is a Game Changer for Noida Region
Comments:0

The Jewar airport will be spread across 1,334 hectares and once its six proposed runways
are open, it is expected to be among India’s biggest airports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi
laid the foundation stone of the airport on November 25, 2021.

Noida: The Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar which is coming up nearly a hundred
kilometres away from Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi, is set to be
inaugurated by the end of 2024, but even as it is under-construction, the airport is already
a game changer for the Noida-Greater Noida-Yamuna Expressway (YXP) belt in Uttar
Pradesh turning it into a major investment destination for leading big IT companies,
telecom equipment majors and data centres.

Govt, Corporates making big Investment in Noida
The realty sector in Noida region is seeing huge demand due to big investments by
corporates and government. Similarly, some big players from the real estate industry are
also looking to set up bases near Jewar with experts claiming that due to the massive
infrastructure development in the region, the Noida-Greater Noida expressway and YXP’s
likely shiny future will be that of a tech hub.
In Noida and Greater Noida, even as more than 20,000 buyers are still waiting for homes
to be delivered, Jaypee townships are attracting developers despite the company’s
insolvency. Firms like Max, L&T, Gaurs, Saya, Paras, and Gulshan have purchased land
worth Rs 3,000 crore and started projects with revenue potential exceeding Rs 10,000
crore. According to experts, the area has become the prime real estate location in the NCR,
with prices doubling in less than a year.

Firms like HCL, Tech Mahindra, and Microsoft have already set up their bases in the region.
Tech giant Microsoft is planning to create 3,000 jobs, invest Rs 1,800 crore, ome officials of
CM Yogi Adiyanath-led UP government said. Samsung, Dixon, LG, Oppo, Vivo, Lava, and
Optiemus are among the phone and white goods manufacturers that have already invested
in the region, and are expanding.
Apart from IT, tech, and real estate companies, finance majors looking to set up IT centres
have also turned to the region. Vinay Arora, senior director and head of site operations for
Gurgaon and Noida, S&P Global India, said that between 2009 and now, the Noida
employee headcount has gone up from 50 to over 1,400. He says Noida-Greater
Expressway and YXP will be key location for S&P in India.
A mega data center spread over 3,00,000 sq ft is also to come up.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath has earlier said, “We expect the pace of investments to get stronger
as work on Jewar airport moves towards completion.” As tech majors have set up their
establishments on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and YXP, demand for office and
recreational space is going up.
Recently, the Noida International Airport has revised its projected passenger traffic due to
the recovery in air travel. The airport authorities were initially anticipating 4.1 million
passengers in its first year. However, the number has been revised to 6.5 million visitors,
according to an ET report.
